I need help from a good photographer.

Either I apparently don't know how to use my camera, or it just sucks. It was working fine when I was using my Lexar 512mb SD card, now that it broke, im using a Kodak 512mb SD card, and im not getting good pictures anymore. Plus the camera is extremely slow when it comes to taking the picture. I hear one click, then ten seconds later, I hear the second. I know the ISO speed is set at auto, which is what its always been set at, but ive never gotten that long of a lag with my Lexar card. Is it the card that is making my pictures not so nice and making it take longer for the shutter to close, or do I just not know how to use my camera? Please help. Thank you.
